OVERVIEW: 

The employee, under the supervision of the Corps Officer, will be responsible for providing food services to clients.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain the kitchen and dining room areas of the Corps building or the meal location of the shelter.
  • Pre-plan, prepare, cook, and serve nutritional meals for up to 100 + people as needed for the Shelter Program
  • Clean and organize the dining room, kitchen, refrigerator, freezer, kitchen utensils, and appliances on the days you cook the meal
  • Take weekly inventory of supplies, creating a list of needs and submitting the list to the supervisor
  • Responsible for shutting off all lights, appliances and locking all doors throughout the building
  • Other duties as assigned

 EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (required)
  • Experience as a cook in a restaurant and/or industrial kitchen environment
  • 21 years old (required)
  • CA Driver’s license (required)
  • Experience with disadvantaged populations, whether through work, volunteering, or being a member of a disadvantaged population (required)
  • ServSafe Certification or CA Food Handler’s certificate (required)

 ABILITY AND SKILLS

  • Bilingual in Spanish (required)
  • Ability to coordinate and manage multiple duties
  • Ability to prioritize work and multi-task simultaneous projects
  • Possess maturity and confidentially
  • Ability to communicate effectively and accurately

 EQUIPMENT USED: 

  • Modern Office Equipment and Relevant Software

 PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Be able to pick up, lift and maneuver 50 lbs.
