STATUS:  Non-Exempt - Full Time

MAJOR FUNCTION:

• Wash and store dishes, pots, and pans
• Maintain cleanliness of all dish washing areas
• Sweep kitchen floor after each meal
• Sweep and mop dining room floor
• Empty trash
• Mop kitchen floor after last meal of the day
• Clean and maintain outside trash and mop storage
• Assist in the preparation of food and food items for service
• Assist in the serving of Food during mealtimes
• Assist the Food Service Director and/or Sous Chef and/or cooks in any duties as requested in an order to maintain a high level of efficiency in the kitchen operation
• Assist the Food Service Director and/or Sous Chef and/or cooks with preparing food items for meal service as time allows
• Other duties may be assigned based on business needs


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Sets up dish stations, including dish machines and sinks
• Maintains clean/dry floors throughout the shift
• Changes water of machines and sinks every two hours, or more often as required
• Assists in the timely storing of food deliveries
• Assists in the preparation of food
• Ensures the cleanliness and sanitization of dishes, tableware, glassware, pots, pans and utensils through manual and machine cleaning methods
• Keeps dishwashing and three sink area clean and safe
• Contributes to the team environment of the kitchen

• Must possess and demonstrate an ability to work with people, including community groups, participants, and staff in an affable, concerned and caring manner
• Must display the ability to and be accountable for the efficient scheduling of time and resources made available to perform tasks at hand

• Experience working in a kitchen setting preferred

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred
• Restaurant or customer service experience preferred
• Work experience as a Dishwasher or on Wait Staff preferred
• Hands-on experience with an industrial washing machine preferred
• Ability to obtain and maintain a food handler certification card, within first 90 days of employment

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to sit; climb and/or balance; stoop, kneel, bend, stretch, crouch and/or crawl; stand for long periods of time; walk, reach overhead.
• Ability of manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination; use of vision.
• Ability to push/pull/lift/carrying 25-50 pounds and occasionally more than 50 pounds (chairs, tables, beds, food cases, etc.).
• Ability to operate telephone.
• Ability to operate food service /culinary equipment.
• Ability to operate a desktop or laptop computer.
• Ability to understand written information.
