The Role:

As Sous Chef, you will work closely with our Kitchen Manager and other Kitchen Staff Members on weekly meal production, working on everything from prep, to cooking, to plating/packing and cleaning. You will be involved with vendor ordering and production planning, helping guide junior team member when they join the team. We are a team that genuinely enjoys our jobs - we work hard and go home.



Responsibilities:

  • Report to/work closely with Kitchen Manager during food prep in a shared commercial kitchen, working on production from prep, to cooking, to plating.

  • Planning production (printing, organizing prep lists, etc)

  • Vendor/ingredient ordering, inventory.

  • Other kitchen prep/cleaning responsibilities as assigned.




Role Details/Hours:

  • Full-time. Wednesday - Sunday, morning hours. Start times usually 5-6am. End times usually 3-5pm.

  • Good work-life balance, (set shifts, not many unexpected hours)

  • We work at a large and beautiful commercial kitchen in South Kearny. It makes being work more enjoyable.




What You Should Bring To The Table:

  • Experience with prep and cooking. Ambition and hunger to learn is more important than an extensive resume.

  • Strong organizational skills.

  • A desire to be part of a small dynamic team that works together and does different things throughout the week.

  • Experience working in a team environment. Being a team player is key to this role.

  • Serv-Safe Food Handlers Certificate required.

  • Proven ability to execute food production to meet time, quality, and volume standards

  • Strong desire to improve culinary skills and knowledge of evolving food trends

  • Ability to receive constructive input and adapt to changing environment as we scale up

  • All candidates must provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States

We launched in March of 2019 and are growing every year.


As a small business, we're committed to supporting local farmers using local & organic practices and purchasing grass-fed/pasture-raised meats raised without antibiotics and wild-caught seafood.
