Position Summary:
The cook assists with preparing menus, inventory control, and
maintains a clean or organized safe kitchen environment. This
position is responsible for preparing the food in an appetizing and
appealing manner.
Essential Functions:
ï§ Identify and report food and supplies needed for the next week’s
menus
ï§ Assist in the receiving, rotation, and storage of products
ï§ Prepare menus and cook food in accordance with nutritional
guidelines, regulations, and residents’ individual prescribed diets
and food preferences
ï§ Assist in fostering residents’ independence with eating by
providing adaptive equipment when needed
ï§ Assist in fostering residents’ independence with eating by

ï§ Prepare food and coordinate food services for special community
events when requested
ï§ Notify Dir. of Food and Beverage or any malfunctioning kitchen
equipment or appliances
ï§ Ensure proper storage and handling of food in accordance with
infection control standards
ï§ The ability to work in a safe and alert manner
ï§ The ability to take ownership for associate’s safety and the
safety of the residents
ï§ Must disclose any medication that might impair associate’s
ability to perform the job safely or competently.

Qualifications/Skills/Educational Requirements:
ï§ Must have a high school education
ï§ Experience in cooking for large groups a plus
ï§ Certified in food-preparation training preferred
ï§ Knowledge of state food-handling and kitchen regulations
ï§ Knowledge of OSHA Standards and fire and safety procedures
