Description

Proof of the Pudding has spent the past four decades providing innovative menus, services, design expertise and event experiences to clients throughout Atlanta and beyond. As a preferred caterer to over 50 venues in and around Atlanta, our Off-Premise team spearheads event innovations and culinary experiences to a range of events from weddings, holiday parties, corporate retreats, and social gatherings.

Proof of the Pudding is seeking a Sous Chef to provide culinary leadership to the Offsite Catering and Events Division. T The Sous Chef will work closely with the Executive Chef and kitchen team with the goal of consistently producing menu items according to recipes and BEOs in high volume, creating innovative menu concepts, and developing team members to succeed and grow.  

Responsibilities:

  • Execution of offsite catering culinary operations including planning, ordering, leadership, and logistics for numerous overlapping events.  
  • Preparation and execution of events and food service while maintaining the highest level of food quality and presentation.
  • Capable of producing a consistent product in high volume.
  • Ensure proper safety and sanitation of all kitchen/food service areas.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of creative menu items that adhere to the Proof of the Pudding standard.
  • Creating and maintaining the overall moral of the kitchen and culinary team.
  • Assists with the scheduling of staff and food production plans in accordance with the demands of business, the direction of Executive Chef and Company policies.
  • Assists Executive Chef with logistical planning and execution of events as directed.
  • Assisting in the hiring process and training of new employees.
  • This position will require some travel mainly within the Greater Atlanta Area with the possibility of supporting other POP locations in accordance with business demands
  • Assists the Executive Chef with assigned tasks as needed.

Performs other related duties as needed.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • 2+ years in a leadership/supervisory culinary role
  • Must have impeccable integrity for the business, the community and the Proof of the Pudding Team.
  • Possess the necessary qualities of self- motivation, desire to learn, and enthusiasm for working in a fast-paced, demanding, collaborative environment
  • Familiarity with multiple service styles including plated events, buffets, and stations.
  • A passion for providing innovative and creative culinary experiences.
  • Experience executing multiple BEOs simultaneously. 
  • Must live near or be willing to relocate to the Atlanta, GA area.

Specialized Qualifications:

  • Proven experience building and maintaining positive relationships with clients.
  • Excellent listening and communication skills
  • Proven time management and delegation abilities
  • Capable of producing a consistent product in high volume for multiple service times per day
  • Proven leadership ability with the ability to give clear directions to the culinary team and other departments.

Work Environment 

This position will work out of Proof’s corporate office located in West Midtown but can travel to events across the Greater Atlanta Area. The Sous Chef will be in and out of kitchens and event venues with shifts having long periods moving equipment and/or food product across various surfaces. This role will also be in and out of freezers and coolers and utilizing typical kitchen equipment.

Physical Demands:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Prolonged periods of moving throughout a kitchen and venue, bending, lifting, and reaching.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks, such as but not limited to, lifting approx. 40 lbs.

Position Salary & Benefits:

  • This is considered a full-time salary role.
