Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Supervision:
- Supervise and mentor line cooks, prep cooks, and other kitchen staff during assigned shifts.
- Lead by example, fostering a culture of professionalism, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
- Monitor and maintain quality control for all food prepared and served.
- Assist in coordinating daily kitchen operations, ensuring smooth service during peak hours.
Food Preparation & Quality:
- Oversee the preparation of menu items according to Aerie Restaurant recipes and standards.
- Ensure proper portioning, plating, and presentation of dishes.
- Support menu innovation, offering creative input while adhering to culinary trends and guest preferences.
Operations & Organization:
- Maintain proper inventory levels, assist with ordering, and minimize waste.
- Collaborate with the Senior Sous Chefs and Executive Chef to plan prep lists and manage mise en place.
- Assist in executing catered events, banquets, and special menus as needed.
- Maintain an organized and clean workspace in compliance with health and safety regulations.
Safety & Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with all food safety and sanitation guidelines.
- Address and resolve any food safety concerns promptly.
- Train staff on proper handling, storage, and preparation of food.
Communication & Collaboration:
- Serve as a point of contact between the kitchen team and front-of-house staff.
- Communicate clearly with team members and other departments to ensure smooth operations.
- Provide feedback and suggestions for operational improvements to the management team.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; culinary degree or formal culinary training preferred.
- Minimum 2 years of professional culinary experience, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role.
- Previous experience in fine dining or high-volume kitchens is strongly preferred.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong culinary skills, including proficiency in various cooking techniques and cuisines.
- Exceptional organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Leadership and team management skills with a focus on fostering positive working relationships.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Other Requirements:
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Must be able to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 pounds, and work in a fast-paced environment.
- ServSafe or equivalent food safety certification is a plus.
