POSITION DEFINITION:
Directs and supervises all dietary functions. In charge of food ordering, production and food service and delivery.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare and serve meals to residents.
- Prepare and serve meals and snacks for visitors, staff and special events as needed
- Maintain established dietary standards complying with sanitary code.
- Ensure proper handling of food is completed.
- Label and date all food in refrigerator.
- Checking menus to ensure each resident is provided with appropriate diet.
- Planning use of left over food.
- Ensure maintenance and sanitation of kitchen and dining room .Floor to be mopped daily and dining room vacuumed daily. Refrigerator cleaned monthly.
- Food inventory for purchase of foods required to complete menus.
- Periodically visiting residents to ensure their comfort and identify special needs.
- Ensure that all food needed for meals are available.
- Clean and wash all dishes, utensils and pots according to sanitary code.
- Provide adequate, prompt assistance as directed in general dietary function.
- Understands hospice principles and philosophy.
- Attend in-service and training for food handling any other classes need to ensure residents well being

Well-lighted, well-ventilated work area.
Physical and mental demands in course of work performance.
JOB HAZARDS:
Subject to cuts burns and falls. Lifting, carrying and moving food, supplies and equipment.
EQUIPMENT USED IN COURSE OF WORK PERFORMED:
Knives, kitchen utensils, pots, pans, slicer, toaster, oven.
