ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Toffee Cook is responsible for producing the candy from start to finish. Ingredients need to be carefully checked, weighed and added to the mixture at specific points in the candy making process. Quality control standards must be met at each step of production.

Other duties to support the full range of activities of the company can include processing shipping labels, light maintenance duties, assisting other departments, preparation of other candy products, and other duties as assigned.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Set up toffee kitchen each morning
  2. Prepare toffee according to established recipe and procedures
  3. Carefully weigh and check ingredients then add at specific time in the candy making process
  4. Prepare packages for mailing in shipping and receiving department
  5. Work with others in a collaborative, team environment
  6. Periodic deep cleaning of toffee kitchen and equipment following General Manufacturing Practices
  7. Light janitorial duties as requested, to include cleaning break room and locker room
  8. Follow safety procedures
  9. Shared responsibility of maintaining HACCP compliance
  10. Assist other departments as needed

Qualifications

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Skill and Ability: follow directions and safety procedures; maintain quality standards at all times; accurate weigh ingredients; recognize variables in production process and take appropriate steps to correct (with direction); work well within a team environment; read and write fluently in English
  2. Tools, Equipment or Machinery Used: open-flame cooker, nut grinder, chocolate melter, spatula, knife, rolling pin, box cutter, toffee roll cutter, scales, scoop, pallet jack, fork lift; broom, postal meter, stirring paddles, hand cart, funnels, thermometer, molds, cleaning supplies, tape gun and taping machines
  3. Minimum Physical Requirements: stand for long periods of time on hard surfaces, continuously lift up to 50 lbs (with assistance), push approximately 500 lbs; bend, stoop, climb, kneel, see, handle or feel objects and tools, grasp, turn, raise arms above shoulder height, ability to work in hot environment.
  4. Risk of Assault or Injury: Moderate; must follow proper safety procedures
