The Arlington is recruiting for a hospitality focused Jr Sous Chef to join our team! This position is responsible for full-scope, hands on production cooking in the Community Culinary Services Department.  Is responsible for maintaining a superior level of quality service and cleanliness at all times.  

Starting at $23/hour. Wage determined by experience and education.

Here are a few of the daily responsibilities of a Jr Sous Chef:

  1. Clarifies, organizes and delegates work for all kitchen employees.
  2. Directly oversees community Utility staff, to include supervision of personnel, staffing, scheduling, counseling, orientation, and evaluation of staff. 
  3. Informs the Sous Chef of all activities and operational problems, making suggestions for improvement and corrections as needed.
  4. Maintains working knowledge of all kitchens and venues and acts as a resource where needed.
  5. Ensures that all food served at the community meets high presentation standards, is a quality product and is properly portioned.
  6. Responsible for the direction of the kitchen in the absence of the Sous Chef.
  7. Assists in creating, planning, costing and executing menus, theme buffets, daily specials and holiday menus.
  8. Assists Sous Chef in executing all catered events and special functions 

Here are a few of the qualifications we need you to have:

  • High school diploma
  • Culinary degree preferred
  • Minimum of one year culinary service cooking within a senior living environment required
  • Minimum one year cooking within a restaurant
