Your Next Chapter Starts Here General Manager – 701 Eateries

Fargo, ND | Full-Time

We’re looking for a natural leader who thrives on action, leads with heart, and follows through.

Our mission at 701 Eateries is to provide the best food, drinks, service, and atmosphere—while building a team culture where hospitality careers can truly thrive.

We’re a small team of owners—family and lifelong friends—who bring a mix of hospitality experience and diverse professional backgrounds to the table. Some of us have spent years in restaurants, doing just about every job you can imagine (yes, even crying on a pickle bucket in the walk-in). Others come from outside the industry, with experience in leadership, events, marketing, coaching, and team-building.

What unites us is a shared passion for creating a place where people feel welcome, supported, and proud to be part of something special.

Here’s what that looks like:

  • We pay above minimum wage because we want our team to stay, grow, and thrive.
  • We offer health benefits to all full time, including gym membership reimbursement, because physical health matters.
  • We provide paid time off and an Employee Assistance Program with mental health counseling, because life happens.
  • We organize team field trips to visit the farmers, brewers, and growers we work with—because connection matters.
  • And most importantly: we want this to be a place where people feel valued and supported.
Dream Big With Us

We also care about what you care about. If you have personal or professional goals tied to this industry—we want to help you chase them. Whether it’s:

  • Winning a James Beard award
  • Becoming a certified sommelier
  • Developing your own food or drink product line
  • Opening a restaurant someday
  • Getting published in a food & wine publication
  • Building a mentorship program
  • Learning to butcher a whole animal
  • Or simply becoming a next-level leader who others look up to—

We’re here to support your vision and connect you with the people, tools, and training to make it happen.

And if you’re someone who thrives on events, strategy, and high-touch service—you’ll love where we’re headed. Our catering program is just getting off the ground, and this is a huge opportunity to help shape and grow that side of the business. From intimate gatherings to bold community events, we’re building something exciting—and we’d love your ideas, energy, and leadership to help make it great.

We’re not shy about dreaming big. A little local fame? A feature in Midwest Living? A sold-out dinner series? If that’s your vibe—we want to build it with you.

About the Role

As General Manager, you’ll be the face of 701 Eateries—leading the front-of-house, back-of-house, and event operations. You’ll collaborate with our Ownership Team to ensure smooth service, a strong team culture, and standout guest experiences.

While many GMs come from the front-of-house world, this role goes beyond that. You will work closely with both the FOH and BOH teams, because each area relies on the other—and true success comes from building connection across the entire operation. You'll support kitchen leadership just as much as your service team, help keep communication flowing, and foster a culture where everyone feels aligned, respected, and part of something bigger.

This position is perfect for a self-starter who can inspire a team, juggle fast-paced service, and bring a sense of calm, confidence, and fun to every shift.

Schedule Expectations

This is a full-time, salaried position averaging 40–50 hours per week onsite, with a mix of opening, mid, and closing shifts.

We’re a family-owned business (and parents ourselves), so we understand the importance of balance. That said, we also know that our busiest times—especially evenings and weekends—are when strong leadership matters most. We want our GM to be present, welcoming guests, guiding the team, and setting the tone for a great experience.

We aim to be flexible and understanding while maintaining a consistent, reliable leadership presence.

  • Minimum of 3 closing shifts per week
  • At least 2 weekends per month
  • Schedule and PTO requests must be submitted one month in advance and approved by District Manager or Ownership Team
What You’ll Do
  • Lead daily operations across FOH, BOH, and Events
  • Hire, train, and develop staff with a people-first, accountability-driven approach
  • Create memorable guest experiences and lead service with warmth and professionalism
  • Oversee team meetings, performance reviews, and scheduling
  • Manage restaurant costs, cleanliness, and service quality
  • Handle admin tasks: deposits, audits, vendor orders, inventory, POS
  • Collaborate with the kitchen and events team for seamless operations
Who You Are
  • A self-starter with strong leadership instincts and follow-through
  • Motivated, organized, and hospitality-obsessed
  • A people person who can coach, inspire, and hold a team accountable
  • Calm under pressure and comfortable managing a busy, high-volume shift
  • Passionate about team culture and guest experience
Perks & Benefits
  • Competitive salary (based on experience)
  • Paid time off + flexible scheduling
  • Health benefits, including gym membership reimbursement
  • Employee Assistance Program with mental health counseling
  • Free shift meals + team discounts
  • Staff outings and appreciation events
  • Career growth opportunities within our company
  • Field trips to connect with farmers, brewers, and local makers
Compensation
  • Salary range: $60,000–$70,000 (based on experience)
  • Bonus structure: Eligible for a quarterly performance bonus based on overall restaurant profit

To earn the bonus, GMs will demonstrate strong leadership by hitting key goals—meeting COGS and labor targets, receiving positive guest reviews, passing secret shopper reports, and maintaining strong results on internal audits. We believe in rewarding those who drive both the numbers and the culture.

Sound like your kind of role? We can't wait to hear from you!
